Basic gameplay of Hello World can be devided into: Basic Mechanics + Level Arangment → Level Design. And I made a few funny icons neta based on gaming platform icons.

Level Design Progress

Meanwhile, I have three main jobs as deputy programmer to implement the gameplay.

1. Assist the leader programmer to determine and improve the program framework

2. Matching all the collisions to my level designs

3. Thin-floor collision

Thin floor is a type of platform that characters can pass through either upward or downward in the game. I came up with straght solution by dynamically spawning temporary collisions and attaching them to anything passes through the thin floor.

But, in the end, i devised a more ingenious strategy. That is, adding a minor position offset to the character's capsule while pushing the mesh back to its original location, resulting in null collision with the thin floor while preserving the rendering.

Character

Design

The tight deadline made the leader artist and I decide that our characters would be as simple and cute as possible, and based on her design of the NPCs I designed the main character that included our school logo.

During the modelling process, in order to make the tiny protagonist recognisable throughout the complex colour scheme, I modified the texture and materials to give his face a lovely fluorescent expression, and added elasticity to his hair physics.
